Hong Kong Recycles (HK Recycles) was founded in 2012. They are a local non government organization (NGO) implementing comprehensive recycling solutions in Hong Kong helping people and organizations to track and measure recyclable materials. HK Recycles aim to maximize sustainable social impact. HK Recycles has launched a new recycling concept named ‘RECYCLEBOX’ starting in September 2015. In this project, we will help it to expand their market, services, and increase the waste-recycle rate for Hong Kong.

Marketing & Business Research

We researched and learned about recycling in Hong Kong, and the current recycling attitudes and practices of commercial institutions in Hong Kong. We then familiarized ourselves with the situation of HK Recycles as a company.




02 / Strategy

Marketing Strategy

We used the Service Blueprint as a tool to represent our service plan. This was done to provide clear guidance on all aspects of the service from front end user actions, to back end operations. Beyond this we also proposed ‘Technology supports’ and ‘Design Interventions’ needed to deliver the service across different channels.

Product Design

We designed the Bins to tell a story to the users. This concept is not only to make a mundane bin, more attractive and interactive but is also used as an educative tool.




Website and App Design

The HK Recycles Logistics Management App is designed keeping in mind the two key users – 1) Collectors and 2) Management The User Interface reflects the brand language in a subtle yet impactful manner. Each wireframe is designed to adhere to the users needs at that point of interaction.
